As The Weeks Go On
As the weeks go on your mate brings you food to keep you going strong. Finally the first day for the kits to go out of the den is upon you two and you lead them out. The area outside of your den will act as a play area and meeting place. They won’t be allowed to go far for their own safety. But that’s alright, especially because for the time being as the vixen you won’t be leaving the den and when you do it will only be for brief periods of time.
Your gaze shifts to your little ones, thoughtfully watching over them. The boy and the girl have already settled into their natural dominance roles -- a submissive daughter and a dominant son. You do not mind this. You know in every litter there is bound to be those that are submissive. You give a loving lick to your daughter’s head, waiting for your children to start exploring the new addition to the territory they were allowed in.
Your son begins to explore first, curiously sniffing at the grass beneath his paws. The warm sun that filters down through the trees onto your bodies feels nice, and you feel completely content just to let your little ones roam a bit. Walking ahead of your daughter you lay down, resting your head on your paws as you watch over the little ones. Your mate on the other hand is off hunting, especially because the little ones are being introduced to meat. It will take a lot of effort and cooperation to keep all of you alive.
But you do not feel worried. No, you feel confident that you will all survive and that your family will continue to grow. The soft feel of fur upon your own alerts you that your daughter would rather stay by your side for now than explore the new playsite. You do not mind, you want to keep them close for now and so the fact she is a bit hesitant on her first day is no problem at all.
