Wait for darkness
It is not until darkness falls around the world that you attempt to come even closer to where Cid is sitting alone, your gaze shifting over him curiously. You can’t help but notice how Cid keeps glancing out longingly towards the ocean… he must feel bad for not coming to meet you as promised. But surely a celebration this large in scale had been planned so why hadn’t he told you?
One by one the people of the town slowly start to head home, and you inch closer and closer to where Cid sits on the shore. You are nervous to expose yourself still, despite the darkness… caution, you remind yourself… especially when there are so many about who might not understand. One human was one thing… a town full of them was another.
But as you wait near the shore something catches your eye in the water, seemingly attached to the cliffside. You arch a brow -- what is this? Your gaze slides back to Cid for a brief moment before you start moving closer to the cliff, wondering what it could be that has caught your attention now.
With a bit of curiosity you swim closer to the objects, finding out, with surprise, that they appear to be none other than costumes like the one you slipped into in order to transform into a selkie. You furrow your brow, a bit of confusion and frustration washing over your body. You’ve been rather happy living as a selkie, you thought… almost happier than before you transformed. Your time with Cid has been fun too… but was it now time to throw all that away?
Another glance is cast in Cid’s direction, your heart pulling in two directions as you are faced with a choice. You can either A, put on a new costume and thus chance living a different life once more, or B, continue to live on as a Selkie and remain as a friend to the human who has expressed interest in you. It is no easy decision, you think to yourself, and with a soft sigh you cross your arms in thought.
A good five minutes are spent weighing the pros and cons of the situation. You can’t exactly tell what the costumes will transform you into under here and, at the same time, you’re uncertain if you want to change at all.
