Out To Sea
“There’s gotta be something out there! What’s the use of having wings if you don’t explore!” You feel a sudden jolt of excitement at the idea of taking off over this expanse of unknown. How could you explore it otherwise? You turn towards the end of the dock, shifting to take off towards the end of the dock. Instantly, once you start running you feel your wings fling out, lifting you up in an arching motion. You pump them harder, bobbing your head excitedly as you feel the sudden lift beneath you getting higher and higher.
The water flows out beneath you. It’s so bright and blue, gleaming as you just skim past it. “Woah! Holy shit!” you think, gasping out with a sudden squeak through your beak as you soar over the expanse of the dark ocean. You fly effortlessly, coasting up on the massive stretch of both wings. As you fly, your eyes rush over the landscape, catching the water rustling as other birds and marine life bustle around at the surface level; but you keep flying and flying. Eventually, the harbor fade out behind you.
“Wow... I’m a bit far...” You look around, seeing nothing but glittering blue water. “Should I turn back?” Your head shakes, “No! What’s the fun in that! But maybe I should turn? I don’t know where they’ll be more land!”
You muse it over, unsure if you should skim down the coast or just keep flying into the ocean in the hopes of reaching a mysterious island or something else out in the distance.
