You are standing by a tree
There are 3 paths.
One appears to go to a jungle,
one appears to go to a cave,
one appears to go to a beach,
you could try and climb the tree,
there is a nearby shop you could go in,
or you could do something else.
So what's its going to be?

You sit under the tree
You sit under the tree.
Suddenly...

See? Keep moving or you get tranked. That's how the game is played.
Your relaxing moment under the tree is rudely interrupted by an abrupt transformation. You are hit by a tranquilizer dart, which turns you into a person with a tranquilizer dart stuck in their neck. It's an easy change. Of course, your train of thought gets about as far as "Oh good heavens, a dart of some kind. I'd betteeerrgmphqq," at which point the dart takes effect, and you slump under the tree like a drugged-up rag doll. A half-hearted twitch is all the moving you do for quite some time. Eventually, you wake up. When you do, you are...

The Institute
Whatever was in the tranquilizer, it's not very eager to wear off. In the vague fog between awake and asleep, you learn that you are in a sitting position, in a mildly comfortable chair, and there is a nice-sounding voice welcoming you to the Transformational Institute.
Your mind clears. You are in what appears to be some sort of lobbey. The walls are covered with mirror tiles (probably one-way mirrors hiding cameras, you note), as are the ceiling and floor. There is also a plain white desk, with an attractive woman in a labcoat sitting behind it.
On the wall behind her you see an elevator, and a frightening-looking black double door marked "Main Lab." On the wall to your right, there is a far friendlier door with a smiley face on it and a large orange "Welcome" painted on it. The woman in the labcoat smiles at you.
"Just pick a door and you'll be on your way."
So, which door do you pick?

The Smiley Face Door (Brace Yourself)
You go to the smiley face door. It looks friendlier than "Main Lab" and less complicated than the elevator. You pull the door open and see another mirror-lined room with a middle-aged man in a lab coat looking at a monitor. The screen shows an empty room, lined with mirrors like the one you are in. It goes dark, and a list of options you can't read come up. The scientist glances up, sees you, and presses one of the choices on the screen.
A robotic arm swings down from the ceiling. It presses into your forehead, accompanied by searing pain. You grab at the arm, but it doesn't move. You try to back away, but the arm just follows you. The man appears to have initiated this, as he is making no move to stop the device. It pulls away, and the pain stops. You look at yourself in the mirror: in the middle of your forehead is a white circle, implanted by the probe.
"Welcome to the proving grounds. Here, you'll be put through a series of challenges beyond that which you're probably used to.
Your only aides will be your wits, and this," he says, tapping the circle on your forehead. "This will turn you into whatever you're thinking of. Be careful, though.
It WILL transform you into whatever you're thinking of, not just what you want to become." The scientist presses another button, and a wall slides open, revealing a dark room beyond. Behind you, the door has disappeared into the wall. You have no choice but to go on. But first, think. You can become literally anything, and you have no idea what you're about to face. Surely you should become something better prepared to face whatever lies beyond. It must be versatile, though, there could be a spelling bee beyond the door, you can't turn into a cannonball. Think...THINK! But don't think too hard, you'll change prematurely. What will you be?

A Gorilla
You think of a mountain gorilla...<br /> The circle burns...<br />
Your skin darkens to gray, and you start twitching. Your muscles get larger and larger as you twitch. Your arms become longer and stiffer, your legs shorter. Your entire body grows, shredding your clothing. This quickly stops being a concern when your clothing is replaced by thick black fur. Finally, your skull reforms, your teeth become sharper, and at the top of your head a large muscular crest forms. You are now a mountain gorilla. However, the white circle remains. You feel you are now ready enter the dark room.
You step in cautiously, and the door shuts behind you, leaving you in total darkness. You wait awhile for something to happen, but nothing does. Your eyes, though, are adjusting to the light, and they see the faintest sliver of light coming from the other end of the room. You cautiously make your way over to the light, and feel around. There seems to be a boulder blocking the entrance to the next room. Your muscular body enables you to heave it aside fairly easily, and as you do the lights come on to an empty room, save for you and the bolder. So that was it? Night vision and a weight test? This won't be hard at all! But there is a problem. The door to the next room is tiny. There's no way you can fit through it. Not in your present form, anyway...

Serpentine
You decide to become a snake--a cobra, in case you need to fight something.<br /> The circle burns...<br /> Your legs and arms suddenly give out. They lose mass, and then shrink and retract, until you're nothing but head and body. This stretches out until it's long and snake-like. Your fur smooth over into beautiful green scales, your eyes become little slits, and your face pushes forward. You open your mouth, and a pair of venomous fangs unfolds. Finally, your hood forms on the back of your neck.<spanSumTF>The transformation finishes leaving you a cobra</spanSumTF>. Armed with your new body, you charge into the hole. On the other side, you're in a well-lit room. On the other side you see a mongoose--shoot! Someone must be planning all this. The mongoose charges at you. You strike out at it, but it only backs away momentarily, unphased. Maybe it would help if you weren't something the mongoose liked eating. Maybe you should be a...

Turtle power!
You decide to become a box turtle--not that difficult of a change.
Your head shortens, you sprout legs again, and your hood expands and hardens into a protective shell, which you duck into.<spanSumTF>The change is finished leaving you a box turtle</spanSumTF>
The mongoose loses interest, and goes back to its food dish elsewhere. You mosey on over to the other end of the room and glimpse your next challenge. A ladder. Maybe turtle isn't the best thing to be. No matter, you can choose to be something else.

Up we go
Your shell retracts into your spine. Your scales soften into skin, which then becomes covered with fur. Your legs and arms lengthen, your stubby turtle toes expand into dexterous fingers, and your neck shortens. Your face loses its beak-like quality, becoming that of a primate, and you grow to the size of an adult chimpanzee.
You start climbing, and it's quite a climb. The lab must have been underground, because the ladder reaches the surface, and keeps going.
At the top, you have quite a view of the weird place you were taken to. You can see the tree you started out under, and the shop, and the jungle, and the beach, and...everything! It's amazing. And you realize, if you climbed back down, you might be able to make a break for it.
But would your circle change you back properly? And you'd just end up transforming again anyway. A little ways ahead of you, you see a platform floating in midair. You might be able to jump to it, as a chimp.
Or maybe you should turn into a bird. Or just climb down and see about escaping.
Or heck, you could just chill there and see what happens--something always tends to happen around here.

THAT was a mistake
Primates aren't characteristically bad jumpers, but honestly, staying a chimp was a dumb idea. You don't make the jump, and instead fall. And fall and fall and fall and fall. Long story short, the owner of the Shop spent the rest of the day cleaning chimp bits off his stoop.
