He hunts alone
You watch as the young man by your side grows weaker, loses weight, and his usually attentive eyes turn tired, unfocused. You can't imagine you look much better. You haven't eaten in days, the snow making the impossible for you to find food. Your fire isn't going great either, the wood you find either too wet or too frozen to be used. One day your fire goes out. You've been out looking for food and when you return to the cave the fire is out, your last wood is used, and there was no food to be found. The half wolf shouts, kicks at the walls, and more than once you see his eyes flash yellow. You try to calm him down but to no avail. He storms off, and doesn't return until nightfall.
You lay pressed together that night, nothing else to protect you from the icy night.
You wake up alone, freezing, on the cold ground of the cave. The young half wolf is gone. You try not to think about it, and instead you return to the frozen forest in hope of finding food. What you don't expect however, is the young man's return, and much less the smell of meat cooking. The brown haired man is sitting in their cave, having started a solid fire, cooking a sheep. An entire sheep. You run into the cave, ruffle his hair to show you're glad he's back, and eye the cooking lamb hungrily. He hands you a piece of meat. You eat it greedily.
This occurs multiple times, the young man leaving in the morning just to return later with wood and meat
