Guard The Royal Reception
“Make sure your armor is extra clean and polished for that one.” The trainer informs you as you pull that assignment off the board. “There’s a royal gala on for tonight, in celebration of the prince’s birthday. We’re not expecting trouble of any kind, but it’s important to show our respect to the royal family by making an appearance. You’ll also serve as a sentry so anybody who’s thinking of starting trouble will probably think twice with you standing around. Hopefully the worst you’ll have to do is escort out any of the guests who might have had a few too many and are making a scene.”
It may not have the excitement of combat, but this would be a good chance for you to learn more about the world of the game in a more relaxed setting. You can find out more about your kingdom, the prince and the royal family as well as some of the neighboring kingdoms, and maybe get some free food while you’re at it. Since night time is still a few hours away, the trainer orders you to get some rest in the barracks now so you’ll be fully alert for the party. While not necessarily a direct order, you get the feeling ignoring it would be a bad idea, and so follow her directions the knight’s barracks.
As you enter your room and start to undo your armor, you wonder if going right to sleep now is your best option as your trainer leaves. There were a few other people you passed by in the barracks, most of them seeming to be your fellow Knights. Maybe you could talk with them, get to know a bit more about this world or them? Maybe you could explore the city a bit as well; you noticed another path on your way to the barracks that pointed toward the city center. It couldn’t hurt to go exploring a little bit, could it?
