Water, Water Everywhere...
The island turns out to be surprisingly disappointing. It sounded like a good idea at first - a free island vacation, all expenses paid, with the possibility of a prize at the end. It's three months until your next swim competition anyway. All you had to do was stay for a few weeks and let remote-controlled cameras film you twenty-four hours a day. What could possibly go wrong?
If someone had said, "a magical force field barrier thing, that's what," you probably would have laughed at them. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. Now there's no telling when you'll get off this island. You may miss that competition after all.
To make things worse, you've got the entire ocean and nowhere to swim. The barrier seems harmless enough, but it fills the water around it with a strange buzzing feeling, almost like an electric current. It's like sticking your entire body in a light socket. Two minutes in the sea is enough to give you a headache.
You've tried escaping and failed. The barrier forms a perfect, unbroken dome over the entire island. It even extends underwater. If there's a bottom edge, you can't swim deep enough to find it.
So here you are - stuck for who knows how long with a bunch of strangers, on an island in the middle of nowhere, in an ocean you can't swim in, with no hope of escape unless someone manages to shut down the barrier from outside. With all the money this show is making, you think that's pretty unlikely.
That leaves you with only one question: what are you going to do for the next few months?
