You're genuinely curious about where the dirt path might possibly lead, and figure that it's obvious enough that it wouldn't count as “straying”. After all, they wouldn't put it there if they didn't intend for it to be used. Besides, if it turned out to be an employees-only area, you could always turn back and keep going up the main road. Without hesitation, you turn onto the dirt path through the forest, whistling as you go.

 

Unfortunately, the path gradually starts to become overgrown with foliage; you turn around, only to find the dirt path gone! Feeling lost, you look around for some form of landmark; you don't see anything, but you hear eerie whispered voices coming from the depths of the forest, giggling childishly and telling you they'll help you out if you follow them. What do you do?
