A meeting
A phone call was made in the next hour.
Jenene paid special close attention to Mr. Horne’s voice on the other line. And to her shock, he sounded perfectly okay and healthy on the phone! Nonetheless, Mr. Horne gladly accepted a visit to his house.

The family drove to the house, but the reception of where they had to go was shocking.
“My goodness, I had no idea we had a rundown part of the neighborhood.” Rita murmured as she stared at the rundown homes
“Well, now you know.”
“Honey, I’m starting to have second thoughts about this.” Curtis said quietly.
Jenene felt her discomfort levels rising. “Let’s get this over with.”
The family knocked the door and the dark-haired man answered, completely normal as ever.

“Mr. Horne, our daughter had some kind of trouble about your house a couple nights before.”
“Oh, it was nothing. I have a crow infestation in my backyard, they like to go fly around at night.”
“Mr. Horne, is there anything we can learn about the house?”
The man widened his eyes, “You… are the first people whoever asked…. To give the short version of things… this house was home to a harmless, religious cult back in the late 1800s and the early 1900s; a sort of niche group that was based in Celtic legend. I am one of the worshippers’ descendants and the cult is no longer active.”
A bird was heard in the background.
Rita and Curt looked at the interior, it was… old-fashioned… almost feral and so nature-oriented with some sort of Gothic undertone.
Jenene was still horribly uncomfortable with the place.
“Well, Clancy…. We mean no disrespect, but we are really not sure this house is a fitting environment for you to tutor Jenene. She's says she’s been terrified of whatever is going on here. You think it's possible that you can work with her at our house?”
Jenene heard the suggestion…. Dang, how come I never thought of it before? “Yes, please!”
“No worries, that could be arranged. This was the first time I actually let a student come to my house. But I’ll be more than happy to come to your house.”
