Let finish
You and your advisor took a moment to let the stranger continue. No action was taken until the roar of the crowds’ applause echoed far and wide through the kingdom. Only then was it the right time for you to make your move. The stranger gave a modest bow and began to walk towards you.
From behind, you can see the king giving his confused input, closing out the speech with a subtle hesitation, yet the charismatic king didn’t want to indicate anything awry. Your eyes focused on the slender young foxtaur padding in your direction.
“Great speech!” You said to him, trying not to seem particularly suspicious of him being there. “I think you did wonderfully! Now what shall we do!”
“Hmm.” the stranger thought, unbeknownst to him, your advisors already knew that he was most likely a fraud, but you wouldn’t let him know how obvious it was to those around you. “Why don’t we have a celebratory feast to ourselves!” he said with excitement, though for some reason, you wondered if this was preplanned.
“Wonderful!” you replied, clasping your hands together. Your mind raced as you continued to ‘wing it’ throughout the rest of the day, somehow you had to figure out a way to get this person out of the palace, and out of the limelight quietly enough to not cause any commotion.
“We should congregate tonight!” the slinky sly voice of the stranger seemed to rattle you down to the core of your soul as you both walked side by side down the long corridors of the palace.
“I shall call for that immediately!” you replied before walking ahead of him, and turning down the hall to meet more of your advisors. You quickly briefed them on the situation and referred them to your main confidant to get the full picture, urging them to hurry, you quickly kept your eye on the stranger as he approached the crossroad.
“Princess?” He asked, paws up on the corner of the wall, peeking his head around the corner with a confused look on his face.
“There we go! I have just taken care of that.” you said, distracting him even more as you led him in the opposite direction of your guards. “Now, we have a bit to discuss” patting him on the back, you made sure to watch those around you, as to continue your folly without raising any eyebrows, especially so from your followers. “Lets go to a more private place to continue”.
It would have been hard for you to give it away with your actions, for some reason, lying and ‘winging it’ had become easy for you, but this time, you decided to put a bit more thought into your actions as you manipulated the situation. You watched your words as you berated him with information about your scientific endeavors; cleverly, every sliver of knowledge wasn’t a full truth.
“Even if he wanted to steal these plans for himself, or whatever his intent is, he will only be donking himself over.” you snickered to yourself, without letting the expression paint itself across your lips. “Now for the future of this project.” you said with a confident tone. “You shall be in charge of managing the entire project, overseeing every person beneath you, and ensuring that their part of things are completely taken care of by the time the deadline rolls around.”
You could tell that despite his cool and calm demeanor, he was beginning to lose you- to lose it himself. For the first time, you could sense that the stranger was a bit uncomfortable, incredibly taken aback, and quite confused by the vast wealth of information you’ve given him. You felt even more confident, as if your plan was working for the first time in forever, and you knew that you were getting close to cracking down on the mysterious young fox.
“I… understand.” he said with sunken eyes; his red gaze fell to the floor, as to not give away his suspicious nature. It felt like playing a game of chess, and you were about to get him in check.
