In a room
The sign reads
"Welcome all new travellers.
To continue you must go through a series of doors.
After going through you will pick a costume. You will then become a half- human and half that creature.
After a week(100 mins a hour,20 hrs a day,10 days a week) has passed you may morph and get another costume. To start of with you will only be able to become 40% human to 60% human.
If you put on a costume you will then become that creature, be teleported to it's home town and have to wait a week before being able to morph.
After 50 costumes you may change into one of your other costumes and become 30% to 70% human. When changing costumes you must wait at least an hour before you can change costumes again.
100 different species/gender costumes allows you to gender-morph and become 20% to 80% human
200 different species costumes allows you to combine costumes and become 10% to 90% human
400 different species costumes allows you to return to your world with no more morphing
And 800 different species costumes makes a polymorph and allows you to morph outside of this world.
Also if you have a costume like a centaur then the human part will always be human and is counted towards the human percentage.
Any gender/species transformation magic of yours can only change your gender(if you have at least 100 costumes) and the animal part to a different animal.
When you change into a different costume (that you already have) you may teleport to that species home town but you will have the week penalty where you have no costume changes.
If you die while wearing a costume you will be reborn at the local inn (or appropriate location ). If you have more then 100 costumes you will lose the costume you had when you died and go to an appropriate place for your next costume.
If you fail to make it out in 100 years(100 weeks in a year) one of your possible forms will be chosen and you will be permanently stuck in that form(apart from magic) until you die. Also there will be no possibility of going back to your world.
Also, one final note: should you take a female form and become pregnant, you won't be able to change your gender until the child is born, though the other aspects of your form may change (the child will change to match.) That is all, and good luck!
You realise that you have to do what the sign said to do and go through the doors and grab a costume.
Alternatively you could use the key system to determine the room

Normal Land
You go through the door.
All of a sudden it slams shut and with no handle on this side it appears that you are stuck.
There are two more doors however and both of them have a sign on them saying
Costume room for
Element: Land
Type: Normal
Gender: ????
So which door do you want

Female Normal Land
You go through the door.
All of a sudden it slams shut and with no handle on this side it appears that you are stuck.<P/>There are five costumes in this room, all of them female, all of them are normal land creatures.

Anthro Lioness
You look over the cotumes on display. "Why did I have to pick the female room. I like being male."
You look over your options. Mare,dog,vixen,she-wolf. And then you spot a lioness costume. You lift it off the hook and with a grinding of gears the other 4 costumes disappear. "Guess I'm committed now."
You take a moment to observe the suit itself. Quite oddly tan, definately built for the sahara, muscular in ways that you aren't sure you'd be able to fill out yourself. The bust size was large enough, you supposed. Being a male, it was difficult to judge, other than your time on sites you'd rather leave unmentioned, but you supposed a nice, tight little 'B' cup, for the first set anyway. You cringed, hoping you'd find some way to hide your feminimity, but with the gentle, progressing lumps of flesh, you knew that wasn't happening. And the hips were rather wide, you hoped simply because of some decent thigh muscle, but that was too much to hope. Not to mention the little peeking pink flesh of the thing proper.
You gulp as you strip, wondering how you got into this mess in the first place. the invatation to the costume party reminding you as it falls out of your pocket. Not having any more excuses to delay, you start to put the costume on.
You sit down and pull the costume , your legs sliding easily into the costume's thighs. The moment your feet hit the soft, bulging paws you feel them twist. Standing up you notice your on your toes as though wearing some fuzzy slippers and it is more comfortable than the awkward, artificial tightness of wearing shoes.
"Digitgrade costume" you say "Quite a comfy one too.". The tingles that started in your feet are now slowly moving up your calves. You reach down to scratch the soft, tightening, tapering bulge of your muscle and to your suprise you feel your hand brush over the fur, the calves underneath twitching gently, tightening like a runner's. You brush your other hand on the opposite leg, feeling the same, as if the fur was actualy your own skin. You quickly try to roll the costume down to stop it but the costume sticks like it's welded on, like iron, progressing almost gently up your skin, enveloping it in sensations you can't bring yourself to call uncomfortable. Completly against your will, the costume seems to be climbing further, as if magnetized to your body, inch by inch along your flesh. Your thighs seem to bulge gently against the fabric before seeming to settle into place, the warmth of the costume a bit startling as your hips seem to press out, the little muscles and nerves taking a moment to settle, before you can really move them. You look at the lithe, almost waspy configuration of your lower limbs before you feel the suit progressing further...
By now the tingling has reached your waist and you gulp feeling your waist stretch out to fill out the wide abdomen of the costume. You gulp as the strange series of sensations moves slowly towards the buldge in the front of the costume and before your very eyes it slowly disappears, as though your masculinity is being worn away, or pushed inward by a soft, fluffy hand.
By now the costume has reached your arm pits and you see the holes for your arms. Before the costume can roll over your arms, you decide to give in, to slip your arms into the costume just so something stranger doesn't happen, or so you rationalize.Even if you couldn't be male or human, at least you'd have the same general shape.
The moment your hands hit the hand paws the tingling starts there. Your finrgernails grow out into the retractable sheaths, becoming the claws of the costume. Also stretching are your fingers, out into the slightly puffy pads of the costume.
Another area of change has progressed to the lower pair of lumps in the costume's abdomen and you feel your body start to grow into them, pillowing behind the slightly hardened nubs of nipples. An image glances across your mind. You see, for just an instant, a pair of gently spotted heads, small and dark and similar to that of the costume. You feel some sort of odd swelling of pride for some reason, as though you figured they were your-
No. You shake your head. No way, you're not a female, much less a mother. The image dissipates, somehow, but you can't help but shake slightly....
.... Though another little blossoming sensation slightly higher on your torso seems to bring it back. Each time the tingling gets to another pair the image returns, but you do your best to deny it, to try and feebly reassert your masculinity despite your form's obvious appearance to the contrary. By now the strange tightening, warping feeling from your arms and torso have joined at the bottom of the neck. The costume having stopped It starts moving up, slowly but inevitably rolling up towards your head.
You spot a mirror and look into it. While it is reflecting you accuretly, suit and all, the background is of a veltd, the heat mirage seeming to shimmer, as though the glass were molten. By now your neck has been covered in the costume's folds, the rest of your form seeming to fit to the definitions of the suit.
The costume contiunes to roll itself along your neck, sliding softly where it joins the base of your skull. When it reaches your chin it rolls out over your lower jaw, seeming to solidify around it as you spot hard, white lumps, a strangle little cross of wide molars and jagged carnassials... You think, you didn't really pay that much attention in biology. It is a weird sight seing inside of the mouth, especially without a tongue or upper jaw, though it seemed to move in tandem with your own, somehow, bone fusing to bone, muscle squirming to join it at key points.
Soon however the top of the mouth has appeared and it is once again closed in, your sinuses making terrible cracking noises as the lower portion of your skull seems to extend from your face. Suddenly a wave of scents hits your nose, even the most mundane of scents suddenly overpowering, new smells you weren't even sure had actual names seeming to pop into existence alongside them. You felt slightly disoriented, but soon you seemed to make some kind of sense of it. You look one way and then the other before relising the transformation has reached your muzzle, causing a little dark spot to appear in the lower parts of your vision, acting as a khaki colored 'blind spot.'
You look into the mirror one last time with your human eyes as the costume rolls up your head. When your vision returns the reds seem slighlty faded, perhaps, that or you simply weren't seeing them quite as prominently. Either way, the hue seemed out of mind while the blue and the greens seem far more important, noticable, 'purer' somehow. You're not quite sure what it is, but even the slightest twitch in the bush seems to stick out in your sight. You blink, as though to rid yourself of the effect, but it stays, your eyes seeming to 'adjust' to the subtle change in your vision.
The 'fabric' slides over your ears, blotting it out for just a moment in a ruffle of skin and fur. Costume ears you thought would have just been cheap replicas flick side to side pinpointing various sounds like little radar dishes. The breeze itself suddenly had a sound, the grass rustling might as well have been trees falling, for a moment. When things adjust, you feel like some kind of sensory dynamo, hyper aware of your environment and personal space.
You look around and the mirror has gone, along with the rest of the room. Your now standing in what appears to be the background of the mirror. You're juxtaposed with the mirror for a moment, noting the breeze is flowing over your fur, until it simply fades from sight. You shiver slightly, your tail twitching as though to mirror your anxiety about your new form and setting. You glance around, shielding your eyes with a hand that seems too fluffy, too slender to be yours.

Modern Times
You turn around and to your suprise you see a modern city, equipped with all the modern scents and modern sights, the drift of cars over pavement, the glint of skyscraper windows as they pointed like jagged stakes at the sky. You feel something between your breasts, resting on the soft flesh that you weren't quite comfortable with. Lifting a chain you find a key and an address.
You look around for the street and soon are lost in the middle of the city, street names seeming to blur together and each little dive building seeming to look like the next. You head towards the nearest tall structure to get a good look of the cities, not quite daring to go inside yet, simply looking out from the base of the structure before spotting an imposing building, large, made of fairly solid looking brick. The front sign reads 'University of Leeu.' Thankfully, they're fairly close to a civil service station. You find a map of the city posted on one side, simply unable to conceive talking to someone in your current form.
it is not too far of a walk, though you can't help but give a little jog, your body naturally falling into the motion, as though it's even more comfortable than a gentle stroll. Soon you arrive at the apartment, following up a flight of stairs as quickly as your seemingly spring loaded new body will take you..
You check out each of the rooms in turn.
The 1st room you head into is the bedroom. A double bed, perfect for a mate you think for a moment and then clamp down on the thought. A closet probably filled with stuff you don't want to think of just yet. A book on the bed 'So you are now a lioness' by 'The 'Wizard' . "How thoughtful of him" you think
Next is the bathroom. A shower and bath combo, big enough for your whole body to lie down in. It is decorated with a more feminine touch then you would like but thankfully not to over the top.
Living room, decent sized tv, a rather nice looking laptop, couch, door out to balcony. same traces of femininity from the bathroom.
Balcony, small but a good view of the city itself, running over the flat roof tops of the nearby university, the long stretches of grass that seemed at least somewhat familiar. You lick your lips seeing the deer grazing on the grass.
Kitchen, Stove, fridge, freezer , all the basics inside, probably enough food to comfortably live on for a week, mostly meat, you notice. You notice something else, a little envelope with a letter inside?
You open the envelope and pull out the letter, reading it
Welcome new resident,
I am assuming you are from 'elsewhere.' We have studied the legends passed down many centuries by our ancestors and believe that this apartment will be where you will come to, that you were somehow meant to be drawn to this exact spot. How exactly you've come here is unimportant, simply know that we are very glad you've finally arrived!
We believe that this time has been selected as a special one, though how exactly has been lost to the ages, our traditions having been oral, translated over time, dodgy at best. This is an hour of great need, one in which we will need all of our peoples if we are to understand a recent and potentially historically significant event. The means of your travel should have provided you with the necessary knowledge to help us determine what exactly has been found, though we will do our best to inform you as well. We are most glad to have you, and thank you in advance for any service you may be willing to provide for our cause.
Sincerely,
Professor Leo S. Felidae
Associate Dean of Leeu University.
The letter ends with a telephone number for the university to contact if you feel like helping. At the same time, you don't feel as though you necessarily have to, you've just been shoved into a new world with a new body, you could just as easily enjoy it... Or try to find some way out of it. You stand there with the letter in your hand, staring at nothing in particular as all the possibilities pass over your mind.

Call them
Not having any other leads to help you understand the complete re-ordering of your body, you look and quickly find the phone. You find it an odd little throw back, the receiver actually corded to the little base with the buttons.
You get to a receptionist and ask for the Professor explaining about the note. The receptionist places you on hold. You sit there listening to the oddly familiar dial tone, finding this place even more surreal for it's small familiarities than the obvious differences. You found yourself subconsciously curling the little twisted phone cord around your paw, but then stared. You don't remember doing that at home, but then you didn't have a corded phone. Still, you couldn't shake the feeling that something else was going on inside your head... It was in that moment that you hear the dial tone abruptly stop.
"Hello?"
"Sorry I was out at lunch and my receptionist had to come and get me. I presume you were not always like you currently are and you got my note?"
"Yes, and did you leave your cell phone in your office?"
"What is a cell phone?"
"Oh, a cell phone is a small device that allows you to communicate much like a phone. It works by radio or something. Usually kind of rectangular? Might have a touch screen?"
"I guess your world is more advanced then us there. How do you keep the signals from getting crossed. All of our radio interferes with everything else in range."
"I don't know. I just know it works."
"Anyway I presume you are calling about the research opportunity on my note"
"Mostly, although you do seem to know a bit about the costumes that made this possible and I was wondering if there is any way back to my old life or at least a male body?"
He laughs "Ouch. Well as for getting your old body back, I can't help you there, we barely understand the process ourselves, much less any sort of reversal. Returning back to a male body is easier according to the legends, but again, this is passed from generations, an imperfect oral account, how empirical or reliable it may be is... Well... Lets just say you shouldn't hold out any hope. Though, if you can find a male costume of sorts, I'm sure it's just a matter of trying on a second skin."
"And I guess I become that creature instead of a lioness? and then I solve everyone's problems?"
"That seems to be how things go. Rather unscientific, I know, but it's the best conclusion I can come up with given the evidence I've been presented with. Anyway are you interested in the job offer?"
"I don't even know what you want me to do!"
"Simple. We have found a device and would like your help to understand it."
"What kind of device?"
"Well, we put things into it and they come out as ingots of pure elements. It's strange, we've done our best to open it, perhaps even analogue it to our own devices, but evidently our understanding is imperfect when it comes to such matters. Though it is quite good for rubbish processing, but we think it should be able to do more."
"Sounds like it would, I assume it has a large power supply?"
"Yes, we take a significant percentage of the university's power, though why, again, is still fairly unclear. Does this sound like something you've seen before?"
"Well... Maybe, I'd have to look at it a little closer."
"So you'll accept the job?"

Accept the offer
"Sounds intresting. I suppose I don't have anything better to do."
You get directions to their research lab and head off.
On your way their notice a lot of fellow lionesses but no lions.
When you get to the lab you spot the first male you've seen since entering, The head researcher of the device. There are many lioness researchers as well, but all of them, without fail, are in secondary positions: lab technicians, interns, essentially every position that has to do work for less recognition or pay.You gave a soft frown at this but aren't entirely sure why.
After you introduce yourself, you point this out to him and he nods "Yeah, most of the species is female, males are quite rare, though they tend to make up for it in other ways. Whether or not the males like it they tend to end up in leadership positions. It's a strange arrangement, one we've been trying to break, but," he gives a soft shrug, "I guess all things considered at least we're aware of the dichotomy. It does make it a bit hard at certain times of the year to get research done though."
"Certain times?" you ask.
He nods "Everyone gets quite randy during the spring, though the females especially seem to lose it, though I wouldn't know about that as much, though I'm making the effort to learn, at least. Anyway I believe that you want to see the device in question?"
You gulp "No offense but I hope that I am out of here before then." before nodding and he takes you through a door, inside is a clear cylindrical vat. They pull a lever on what appears to you to be a rather complex control console, with lights seemingly flashing and blinking and noises buzzing at random, and a load of garbage is put in the collection tank. You are surprised to hear the air rushing in as well.
Soon a couple of bars of some sort are ejected from the bottom while a couple of pressure gauges read a little higher than before, at least that's what you think they are, the little needles dancing a bit closer to the red.
"The pressure gauges represent the elemental gases, while the bars are the elements from the input." you hear from behind you, though you almost want to laugh. The last time you heard of elements you were playing a children's collectible monster game, but then you took just another moment's thought. Unfortunately, you were no chemist, you probably couldn't have spelled 'periodic,' much less assembled the table. You cringed, suddenly this looked a little more complex than you'd hoped.
You look over the control panel seeing only the lever, any thought of complexity shot for just an instant. It simply couldn't be that simple. "How do you control this?"
"We don't know. We found it like this at the crash site" one of the lionesses responds "We think it is on a default setting".
"Crash site?" you ask, still rather incredulous at the whole situation.
"We had an alien ship crash and all aboard were dead. " Another one responds, whom you distinguish for a small silver hoop of a 'snakebite' in her left side of her lower muzzle.
You raise your eyebrows at this information before looking at the vat. As incredible as this piece of technology might be, you realized in that instant that essentially it was being run in the way a cave man might attempt to work a car. It does because it does. As much as you wanted this thing to run, to feel the small charge of curiosity on your mind satisfied, you also realized how potentially dangerous this piece of equipment might be. "Well there isn't an obvious cord or socket so it is probably a wireless link... I think. " you say. "Was their anything near it in the ship?"
"I think we have some pictures somewhere" the last of the researchers says. You sighed. You weren't an expert on this either, but you knew if an alien vessel had crashed on your world, there would have been pictures by anyone with a camera, phone, even pen and paper in the immediate vicinity within seconds. You also knew you'd have probably never seen it if one had, and certainly it wouldn't have been entrusted to someone who'd just come from some obviously entirely separate reality in a completely different body to make it work. In fact, the trail of this line of thought really just reinforces, again, that this obviously isn't your world. You stare back at the researcher that mentioned this for just a second.
"Well then? Where are they?"
Written by Catprog + Sal_Lilith on 18 June 2012
Search for the pictures
You follow them into a locked cabniet to find folders packed into shelves inside. "Here is all the written information we have on the device and the ship it comes from. There should be some photographs too. However they are orgainsed chronographically and we don't know what exactly is useful."
You nod and ask "How long a time period do these folders cover?"
"About 20 years" the researcher answers "from the time we first saw the ship in our telescopes to now"
You skim through it and find out that the crash site was a week way from the nearest city up in the mountains. And they had to carry everything on foot.To you it seemed very pulp fiction, like the sort of thing one might find in old weird tales of discovery and adventure, like that one Harrison Ford movie. It was low tech, you were somewhat surprised that they didn't even have pack animals to carry their goods, but then you had yet to see any domesticated creatures, maybe they didn't have any? In either case, it was a very interesting anachronism.
Soon you find the pictures of the craft and more importantly the pictures of the cylinder.
Unfortunately right next to the cylinder is what appears to be a large computer that appears to have exploded. You stare dumbfounded for a moment, unsure if computers were even capable of actually detonating, but then this was supposedly alien technology, it could have been powered by nitro glycerine for all you knew.
You point to that, seemingly beyond any hope of words or explanation, hoping that they were able to get some data off of it somehow.
"That did not go to our department. I can try and find out where it is for you though"
You nod and continue to look in the folders for any other data. Made sense to you anyway, hopefully someone did have something intelligible, you'd think about it later.
Soon though it is time for dinner, signaled by your own growling stomach and that of some other lionesses around you. You seemed quite in tune with them, as though you could pick up on their subtler signals, though only in broad strokes. You are invited out to a nearby restaurant, one who's name you still can't quite pronounce, the entire research team seeming to almost ascend from the work at once. It's the male that finally says "As a welcome I will pay for you."
You smile, though frankly you hoped so, you weren't sure if payment were it's own little anachronistic ritual or if it were as simple as swiping a card. It would be an interesting learning experience either way. "I don't even know any of your names"
"Well perfect time to learn them."
"I suppose it would be nice, rather than just calling you all 'Leo Sapiens' or something."
Now he smiles "Seeing as though this is your first night I will order for you if that is alright?"

The end (for now)
