"They numb you. Just take them. They help."
"They numb you. Just take them. They help."
You look into his eyes, bright yellow and glimmering with a confident knowledge. You look at the
berries hesitantly and pop them in your mouth, chomping down. A sour juice squirts from their
plump bodies and fill your mouth. You swallow the liquid and close your eyes.
"It'll be better if you just let them work. Now, if you'll excuse me," he stands and ducks out the
door. "I'll get you something to eat."
And then he's gone. He leaps from the ledge of the door and you wait for the splat.
But it never comes.
"Just let the man do his work..." You say to yourself. You close your eyes and listen to the
sounds of the forests, and let it soothe your sore body.
