Bird's Eye View
Reaching some altitude, you level out and start circling. Flying seems easier than you would have thought, but you try not to think too much about it. You might just reach the wrong conclusion and crash.
Looking down to distract yourself, you see the tree you took off from seconds ago - or one very much like it. Curiously enough none of the things you saw under it earlier seem to be there any more, and the other places you could go aren't there either. The tree stands in a small fenced area surrounded by the backyards of a block's worth of suburban houses.
Curiously enough there are no gates in the fences leading into the tree area. Did you climb a fence to get there? Or, absurd at it may seem, are you really a fictive character who just got created in that spot?
On the third round you notice a loose plank in the fences that has been pushed aside, and looking closer you recognize the house and backyard on the other side as the place where you and your family live. Once you have that reference pinpointed it doesn't take you long to locate the homes of the neighbors.
Everything is familiar, except for the center piece. Try as you might, you just can't recall ever having seen the area with the tree before. And you never noticed how easy it is to look into the houses from above through the windows and skylights either. You hope you are the first transformed human in the area - if not, human birds may have been spying on you for years!
But now you are the one up here! Which leaves one question.
Which of your family members or neighbors are you going to spy on - first?
