Unlike many other stories the shape shifting is integrated into the universe at a fundamental level
The main area in the story is a town full of shape shifters with a herbivore animal form and a human form. The main enemy are carnivore creatures.
From what I read. Their are no normal creatures, every creature is a shapeshifter
Despite having many characters each one is different enough to keep track of them in my mind.
To warn you, characters do die.
The story itself has nothing in particular to recommend, and the transformations are over in an instant. It however gets a five due to how well the transformation is integrated.
