The main problem I have is the start of the story is quickly removed. The alian invasion makes the setup irrelvent and then the 2nd invasion removes that storyline as wel.Then their is only a brief mention later of the entire setup.

Then their is a twist which is only mentioned in a single chapter earlier

Overall it fails one of the main tests. Is the transformation integrated into the plot. This one fails because if you take a few chapters off the start and change a couple of lines it is no longer a transformation story.
