The main character is very quickly defined by going back to help someone despite being ordered to leave them behind
Despite being imprisoned he still tries to escape
As the story progresses he gets more used to the new body.
The world building is introduced slowly without overwhelming you
Overall this is one I can recommend, even if it might be inflated by the lack of good recent stories.
