This is another book where I was unable to finish so 0 rating
While the setting might be an interesting idea, the story does not focus on it
The death scene seems to have no effect on the rest of the story. I believe it is meant to show why the character ended up there. However it seems like he changes immediately. Later on in the story it introduces a new feature out of the blue.
Transformation wise it feels like something that just happens and nothing you can do about it. The world seems to be just surviving until you change.
Also you have the Chosen one trope with special powers.
Overall stay far away from the book
