This book starts off with some of the left overs from the last book. Closing a few holes left over. Then we see not all powers from the myth side are good. Then we get into the main part of the story, dealing with a 'failed' program.
The failed program was someone who changed at 1 year and had to be given to the myth creature.
Most of the story is trying to figure out if she is human or the myth creature. But about halfway though you know.
Also happening is a pheniox rebirth, in this world, it means a loss of magic in the local area.
In addition to these main drivers of the plot, their is also the recovery of medicine and knowledge from the other world.
The end of the book also sets things up nicely for the next two books. (Which work well with this one as a trilogy)
